What Fireplace Cleaning Includes
We work on the room side of the fireplace, the part your family and guests actually see. Everything is done by hand and by vacuum with a fine-dust filter, so the mess stays in the fireplace and out of your living room.
- Firebox cleanout: all ash and debris shoveled and vacuumed out, then the firebox walls wiped down
- Glass doors: the white haze and black film cleaned off both sides so you can see the fire again
- Smoke-stained brick: the black staining above the opening treated in careful stages
- Gas logs: the logs and the burner area dusted on the venting side, then the logs set back in their correct position
- Hearth and surround: wiped down and left clean, with drop cloths under everything while we work

Fireplace cleaning is the room side. It covers what you can see: the firebox, the doors, the brick, the logs. A chimney sweep is the hidden side. It cleans the flue, the passage inside the chimney that carries smoke out of the house. Burning wood leaves a sticky black buildup in the flue called creosote, and creosote can catch fire. A wiped-down firebox does nothing about that.
So here is the honest rule. If your fireplace just looks dirty and you want it presentable, fireplace cleaning is the right call. If you burn wood regularly, or you cannot remember the last time anyone cleaned the flue, book a chimney sweep. During every fireplace cleaning we shine a light up the flue and tell you straight whether the inside needs attention. If it looks fine, we say so and you spend nothing extra.

How We Treat Smoke Stains on Brick
Brick is full of tiny pores, and soot settles into them. The wrong cleaner pushes the black deeper or bleaches the brick around it, which looks worse than the stain did. We test a small hidden spot first, then work across the stained area in stages, checking the brick as we go.
A fair warning from us: fresh soot usually comes off well. Staining that has baked in over many winters can lighten a great deal and still leave a shadow. We will not promise you a result we cannot see yet. We photograph the brick before we start and after each stage, so you can judge the progress with your own eyes and decide how far to take it.
