SAME-DAY REPORT

In your inbox before we finish the day

Most chimney questions come from the same place: you cannot see the thing you are asking about. So the answers below are written to be useful even if you never call us.

If your question is not here, call and ask it. We would rather answer it on the phone than have you guess.

YOU SEE WHAT WE SEE

You cannot see your own chimney. That is the whole problem with this trade, and it is why people feel talked into things.

Every visit ends with photographs of what we found, walked through with you before anything is quoted. If the pictures show nothing wrong, that is the report you get.

What Things Cost

We do not publish prices, and we want to explain why rather than dodge it.

The honest reason is that chimney work varies enormously by what is actually there. A crown repair on a small single-flue chimney and a crown repair on a tall multi-flue chase are the same words and completely different jobs. Any number posted on a website is either so wide it tells you nothing, or it is bait.

What we will commit to is this: you get a number after we have looked and after you have seen the photographs, and it does not change unless we find something new and tell you first.

Timing And Season

Chimney demand in North Texas is heavily seasonal, which affects how fast you can get someone out.

COMMON QUESTIONS

It is driven by use, not the calendar. A fireplace burned most winter nights needs attention far sooner than one used at Christmas. An annual inspection is a sensible baseline, and what it finds tells you whether a sweep was actually due.

You still want it looked at. Light use produces less creosote, but a chimney sitting idle collects nests, debris and moisture damage just the same, and those are the things that cause problems.

A sweep removes buildup. An inspection tells you the condition of the structure. They are usually done together, but the inspection is the part that finds the expensive problems early.

Warm humid air moving down a cold flue picks up the smell of creosote and anything else in there. It usually means there is more buildup than you would like, and sometimes it means moisture is getting in.

You can buy the brushes. What you cannot do from the ground is see the flue lining, the crown, or the flashing, which is where the problems that actually cost money live.

It is the cheapest part on the chimney and it prevents the most common expensive problems: rain going straight down the flue, animals getting in, and debris blocking the draft.

Yes, with photographs. If you need it for a home sale or an insurance claim, say so when you book so we document it appropriately.

It depends on the season. Outside of the first cold snap it is usually quick. Call and we will tell you honestly rather than book you and slip.

An inspection is a service with a real cost, and we will tell you what it is when you call. What we will not do is give you a repair number before we have looked at your specific chimney.

Then you get a report saying so, with the photographs to back it up, and we leave. That is a normal outcome and it is not a wasted visit.
